These tutorials cost money. I actually bought this tutorial myself and can honestly say its pretty detailed. Its an English tutorial but the makers aren't native speakers and sometimes its hard to understand because of the broken English. Its a buy from me.

I'm in no way a master of CG but I thought I'd share something I learned.

1. I'm going to take my tire, which is just a low res cylinder.^^^^^

Then create a FFD(Box) Space Warp that encloses the entire tire.

Create panel > Space Warps > Geometric/Deformable > Object Type rollout > FFD(Box)
Create menu > Space Warps > Geometric/Deformable > FFD(Box)

2. Now we need to link the space warp to the tire itself. VVVV This is done by using the Bind to Space Warp button. Click and link the two.

3. Now select the FFD and select its Control Points and start manipulating the bottom control points. VVV You can add more points if you want. I purposely made an extreme deform to show you the FX but in real life it wouldn't be this warped unless it is a flat tire.

Now when animate the tire rotating the tire will deform correctly.

This should add a bit of realism to your car animation. For non animation you would just apply a FFD modifier instead of the Space Warp version. I made a little animation. Its ugly but it shows you the animation.

Spend a bit more time and effort and you can put this to good use. Sorry if this has been posted before. Any errors and mispellings let me know.

Heyne Multimedia SplinePatch v1.10.2 for Cinema4D-BB3D

Spline Patch generates surfaces from four border splines. The plugin is designed as an object generator, i.e. all parameters including the spline geometry can be changed at any time. This makes the plugin a valuable extension of the Cinema 4D-Nurbs objects.

Hello my fellow modelers! I recently looked over some of the positive comments that were left at the site. We thank you very much. I didn't really notice that the comments were not made public.

Toward the beginning of the site the comments were on, but I turned the comments off in a way because of the first comment ever posted here. Can you believe the first comment here was spam. Amazing. That angered me so much that I switch the approving the each comment myself. As you can see I failed pretty bad. ;) Anyway I turned them back on.

From the first day I wanted comments on so we can discuss and exchange information and tips. I encourage and hope you guys leave feedback and comments on the site. I recently had a issue with a post that didn't have a link to the tutorial. I was told a few days after. This is not the first time this has happened. I hope you can use this feature to get in contact with me and also improve the site.

Any suggestion would be welcome.

Peace!

I came across a great resource recently working on my Jeep model. "Ebay Motors". Very great resource. It has thousands of photos of cars that you can browse through. Just go and search for the car your modeling and you'll find nice hi res images of your car.

I must say its not good for high end cars like Ferrari and such but if your doing a car that everyday people driver you have a a good chance.

You will see that in this tutorial I used edit mesh for most of the time, but if you have 3dsmax 5 or 3dsmax 4 with mesh tools, I suggest that you use editable poly since it has some features that makes your modeling a lot easier (like selecting entire edge loops). Also instead of using slice modifier you can use quick slice or just "cut" from editable poly.

Here is a nice modeling tip. In 3ds max, if you press Alt+X your polygons in your models will turn transparent and you will be able to see your blueprints and model at the same time. Personally, I've been modeling for 4-5 years and I've only know about this for only 2 years. Most of you may already know but never assume that everyone knows. Enjoy.

Hello everyone. Today I start new interactive tutorial on 3DM3. It will be car-modelling tutorial. I choosed VAZ 21093 car. Why? Because it is simple to do for begginers.

So, here is blueprint
http://www.3dm3.com/blueprints/fileb.php?iid=118

Everybody can take part in this tutorial. Soon I will start modelling right now!!!

First step. Setting up the scene for modeling.

I had sliced blueprint in Photoshop. Then in 3dsmax I created a box with length, width and highth as real car. Now going to Material Editor. There I take Multi/Sub object material with 5 materials. In those materials for diffuse map take sliced blueprint. You must also push the button: "Show map in view front"

Then I converted box into Editable Poly and use Normal modifier on it to flip normals. Then I assigned multi/sub object material to the editable poly. On first image you can see multi/sub object material. On second - final view of Editable Poly.

Hello everyone. This is an old Evermotion tutorial, that we finaly translated into english. it's a basic tutorial that shows only few options, which allow you to model a complex car. To start this model you will need some schematics or blueprints of vehicle in question, in our case, the Land Rover Freelander.

Sorry I forgot the link, lol.

First problem, the partern are not orthographique.
So, i have made a cube with FIA data about lenght, etc the car have to respect.

After, I have just build a basic spline cage, but I advice to use a polygonal modelisation because i had too many poly on air vent.
Then, with a surface tool (threresold 1), I converted the mesh in editable polygon in order to clean it, trying to have just quadripatch.

Next step is just adjusting all vertexes to get the better mesh as possible (N.B:use a reference with a meshsmooth is very useful).

http://tyio.3dvf.net/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=16

Not the best blueprint site but nice to have in your database.

Welcome to the first of many posts of wireframes. First I'd like to think Ali Ismail for his donation of wireframes from his lovely Lexus model. He is an amazing modeler who has been featured in numerous publication. Thanks again Ali.

Studing wireframes is also important to the modeling purpose for the beginner. If you aren't use to doing so I highly suggest it. You learn how objects are constructed. You learn their structure. Once you learn their structure you'll be able to build. Stay tuned for more car wiresframe in the future. God bless.

Note: This tutorial was posted without permission from author. MM apologizes for that to the author. We here at Mobile Modelers aren't in the business of posting illegal stuff. This tutorial was posted freely online and that was the reason why it was posted. If Mike, the author, wants us to take it down then we regetfully will. Unfortunately, stuff like this will happen time to time. Only free stuff will be post and links to free stuff in our opinion is ok. The above tutorial was posted by atleast dozen other sites. For some reason we were singled out.

In our personal opinion linking doesn't require permission although asking for it would show more professionalism and integrity. Again we apologize to Mike and are asking for your permission to keep it up. Not for us but for the community. Thanks.

How do we make those awesome CGI images? Well, like everything else...With A Twist!

Here's the simple nuts and bolts, time-tested, bulletproof, step-by-step on how we use HDRI imaging to create fantastic CGI vehicles. This is only an overview just to get your feet wet. When you are ready to do the cannonball, we can talk specifics.

Shooting the Background

We still need to put the CGI vehicle in a location and that location has to be shot by a professional photographer. And just to make it tricky, guess what? There's no vehicle to focus on or compose around. Some photographers will use a rental car just to get an angle, but the photographer really has to be on his/her game to "know" where the car is, and what the light will be doing. This is no different than a traditional car shoot, just no car is needed.

Markers or some other kind of scaling device is added in the shot to help camera match the location to our virtual location. Markers also help us establish a real world scale of the location. It also gives the photographer something to focus on.

Essential information to be recorded on location:

* Camera type and format used
* Lens information
* Height (from ground to lens) of the HDRI capture camera
* Height of Background plate camera
* Distance from camera to markers
* Reference photos, depending upon shot

Suurland was one of the first resource for us car modelers. Its where I first got started. It one of the oldest sites. The amazing thing is its a personal portfolio but it has a vast database of car blueprints. Their are also some tutorials. If your in need Suurland should be one of your stops.

Suurland.com

About Suurland:

My name is Thomas Suurland and I'm 27 years old and from Denmark. I've been using various 3D Studio products since late 1993 starting with 3D Studio release 3 for dos, and if I counted right this gives over 10 years of experience.

I started out in the games industry doing primarily real-time 3d models. In 2000 I started my own company so I could start freelancing and work with product visualization and modeling which is my true passion.

I'm still working as a freelancer since it's been some very exciting years with various clients and various projects so it never gets boring. If your interested in having some freelance work done then please have a look in the "freelance" section on my homepage.

My hobby is photography which goes hand in hand with 3d since it can teach you a lot about composition and colors. And to know how to make 3d photoreal you have to know how a photo "looks and works".

Besides this there isn't much to say about me.. Have fun!

Labels: , ,

I would like to thank all visitos to Mobile Modelers. I'm still working in the background. I still have a few dozon car tutorials in my database that most of you guys haven't seen. Some really good ones. So please check every few days.

I also have two more "making of" cg car videos I haven't posted. The previous ones were Acura and Saab. Please check them out if you haven't seen them. Their extreme cool.

I'm still trying to figure out the template for posting tutorials. I don't want to give everything out at once. I think I'll post one from my database with an obvious that everyone has seen. Thats good because I have to collect every tutorial. Please do visit and post your comments. God Bless.

PS, please be nice and respectful.

Again another old tutorial lightwave but I have to post it in order to help create my database of car tutorials. Its very detailed and any Lightwave user should be lucky to have such an outstanding tutorial. Any intermediate Max user should be able to use the same concepts to follow along.
